Psychotherapy is talk-based therapy, aimed to help individuals improve their mental, emotional, and relational well-being. Psychotherapy can be helpful for individuals who are experiencing unhelpful or negative thoughts, feelings, moods, and behaviours that are adversely impacting their day to day lives and/or relationships with others. Psychotherapy can provide insight into an individual's thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It can also help manage and alleviate symptoms of mental health conditions, including coping with stressful life events, the impact of trauma, medical illness, grief and loss, and conditions such as anxiety or depression.
Depending on the your goals in therapy, a variety of modalities (approaches) may be used throughout the course of treatment. The modalities and treatment plan will uniquely catered to you and your needs, and will depend on factors such as your personality, previous life experiences, and your treatment goals. Some modalities may work better for you than others. The therapist and the client discuss treatment options and modalities together to determine the best course of treatment for you and your needs.
I offer a range of evidence-based therapiea. Modalities I work with include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative, Family Systems Models, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectic and Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also offer faith-based counselling for clients who are interested in integrating their faith into the treatment process. Often times clients benefit from an integrational approach in which several models of therapeutic treatments are utilized throughout the course of treatment.
Individual therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes long. However, extended sessions can be accommodated at a pro-rated fee. The duration of therapy depends on several factors, including frequency of sessions, your personal therapeutic goals, and the modalities that are utilized in the therapeutic process. Therapy will continue only so long as is beneficial to you. The frequency and duration of the therapy will be mutually agreed upon, and we will evaluate on an ongoing basis in order to determine its helpfulness.
In a first session we will typically discuss what brings you into therapy and what you can expect throughout the treatment process. We discuss your specific needs and goals that you bring into therapy. The initial treatment session can be tremendously helpful in establishing which therapy modalities work best for you and your specific situation. It is also an opportunity for you to address any questions or concerns you might have regarding the therapeutic treatment process.
The fee for therapy sessions with Rachel Wilson is $150 for individual therapy sessions, $170 for couples therapy sessions, and $190 for family therapy sessions, respectively. There may be opportunity for sliding scale fees, as well as reduced student fees. Fees will be discussed and determined at intake. If you have any questions or concerns relating to session fees, please reach out at rachel@veritascounselling.ca.
As a registrant with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, my therapy services are covered by many extended benefits packages, typically under "psychotherapy" or "counselling." However, it is important that you first check with your insurance provider to ensure services are covered. Direct billing to insurance companies is not a service we provide at this time, however, receipts are issued to you after each session , which can then be submitted to your insurance provider.
